In a dreamlike Eco-Lodge by or by horse you get to know the rainforest that is home to thousands of animals and plants. You will help to clean and maintain the paths and to acompany guests. You will also learn about the work of the 'guardabosques', reforestation and about the efforts of waterprotection for 70.000 people in the Limón Area on the caribbean side of Costa Rica.

You will also learn about the work of the 'guardabosques', the 'forest patrol', and about the waterproject of the lodge that provides water for about 70.000 people near Limón.

Your work includes

  • cleaning and maintaining the paths in the forest
  • developing new trail signs
  • recolection of trash left behind by poachers
  • taking down poaching stations
  • inspection in the forest, inventory of the area - trees, plants, animals, food
  • reforestation, planting
  • stable maintenance and care horses
  • helping in administration of the lodge
  • joining the guests on their excursions

  • knowledge of the spanish and english language; classes can be booked through first hand
  • interest in a temporary stay far from civilisation (the next city is 30 km)
  • horseback riding is useful

Location

The lodge is located 35 km southwest of the harbor city Limón, Caribbean, and bordering La Amistad World Heritage Site or La Amistad Biosphere Reserve.
